Scholarships for UT Employees Interested in Nonprofit Board Training

Many UT employees serve on nonprofit boards.  It is rewarding work that makes a real difference in our community.  If you are interested in learning how to be a better board member, scholarships are available covering all the cost of a training program offered through the Haslam College of Business in partnership with Knoxville’s Alliance for Better Nonprofits.

The program is open to professionals from across the region, so it is a great way to build your network outside the university.  Classes meets six Thursday evenings spread over the coming academic year, and the certificate program includes a “match-making” process to help you find the ideal nonprofit board to join.

Alex Miller was awarded a 2013-2014 Outreach and Engagement Incentive Grant to help develop a regional support center for nonprofits in Upper East Tennessee.

Miller partnered with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, United Way, and the Trinity Foundation to begin building the support center for nonprofits in the area.

The Alliance for Better NonProfits opened its doors in early 2015.
