Research to successfully expand services provided to children in the community coping with grief, loss, or trauma
The Grief Outreach Initiative of the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences was established in 2008, and offers support services to children in the community suffering from grief or loss.
This funding proposal was to study how best to expand the Grief Outreach Initiative in response to the increasing number of referrals to the program, as well as to compile and analyze data for the purpose of developing new research and exploring additional funding opportunities. Funding was requested for a graduate assistant to compile this data.
The researchers concluded that a logical expansion of the initiative was to move from only working with children to also working with and educating families in the community, and additional funding has been secured to develop a series of workshops to begin doing so.
Additional grant proposals are also currently being developed, using the data collected during this project.
