UT Extension Partnership Wins Grant to Reduce Chronic Diseases in West Tennessee

Photo from UTIAThe Department for Human Health and Services has awarded a $987,000 grant to UT Extension for a combative health plan against obesity, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. “In order to account for, and respect, the culture and context of communities,” said project director Heather Wallace, assistant professor in the department of family and consumer science, we will be working with each coalition as they drive their own initiatives to improve local health.” Strategic partners in the initiative include Tennessee State University Extension and a series of community coalitions, local school districts, and county health departments.
