The city of Cleveland, Tennessee is UT’s inaugural municipal partner for the Smart Communities Initiative. Students in approximately 16 UT classes are addressing projects in Cleveland. Lee University, located in Cleveland, has joined SCI as a local partner.
“We are here as a community resource,” said Arlie Tagayuna, Lee assistant professor of sociology.
“There are people here who care a lot about the community. It’s just we have never been tapped as actively previously. I’m so glad that I’m a part of this project.”
Students from both universities are now working together to gather city data for a rebranding project.
