The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Engagement Award
PCORI plans to award $20.5 million in FY 2016 as part of the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Awards program. These awards support projects that encourage active integration of patients, caregivers, clinicians, and other healthcare stakeholders as integral members of the patient-centered outcomes research/clinical effectiveness research enterprise. Letters of Inquiry are due by February 1, 2016. Full proposal submissions are by invitation only, after review and approval of the LOI.
Independent Sector John W. Gardner Leadership Award
The John W. Gardner Leadership Award recognizes living Americans who, through their body of work, have made significant contributions to the nonprofit and philanthropic community; whose leadership has been transformative; who have mobilized and unified people, institutions, or causes; and whose efforts have improved the community of life on our planet. Nomination submissions are due by February 1, 2016.
Call for Proposals: 2016 Indigenous Women and Women of Color Student Summit
The 3rd Indigenous Women and Women of Color Student Summit will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. The focus of the 2016 summit is leadership, confidence and cultural strength. The Summit Planning Committee invites organizations and individuals (faculty, staff, students, alumnae and community members) to submit proposals for workshops. Subject matter should be related to the following areas of emphasis: Community Building, Interpersonal Relationships, Intersecting Identities, Leadership, Social, Justice, Well-Being, Women of Color in Academia, and Women of Color in Media. Submissions are due by December 15, 2015.
Call for Proposals: 2016 Upper Midwest Civic Engagement Summit
The 2016 summit will be held at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA on May 31 and June 1, 2016. Each session proposal should relate to the 2016 summit theme, Beyond Service: Education, Research, and Work for a Just World. Sessions may focus on models and strategies that have already been effective, what lessons can be learned from less successful efforts, and what significant questions must still be addressed to advance both knowledge and justice. Deadline for submissions is February 12, 2016.
Sparks! Ignition Grants for Libraries
Sparks Grants support the deployment, testing, and evaluation of promising and groundbreaking new tools, products, services, or organizational practices. Successful proposals will address problems, challenges, or needs of broad relevance to libraries and/or archives. Proposed activities or approaches may involve risk, as long as the risk is balanced by significant potential for improvement in the ways libraries and museums serve their communities. The grant amount is $10,000 to $25,000. Deadline for applications is February 15, 2016.
Evaluating High-Value Innovations from Low-Resource Communities
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is committed to seeking value from all levels of investment in health care, public health, and population health. Through this call for proposals the Foundation intends to pursue several objectives: (1) to identify promising innovations to improve health being implemented in low-resource communities, (2) to evaluate whether the innovations improve health care quality and health without increasing costs; and (3) to disseminate these innovations as examples for other communities to implement. The evaluation of innovations from low-resource communities is the primary objective of this call for proposals. The total award amount is $2.5 million with up to 10 grants being offered. Deadline for brief proposals is December 10, 2015.

We are getting closer to the deadline for the RFP for Carson-Newman University’s Third Annual Appalachian Summit. The overarching focus of the Summit is to create tangible outcomes to assist faculty in integrating service-learning into the classroom and initiating greater civic dialogue.
