Deadlines are approaching for a number of internal awards that recognize and support community-engaged scholarship.
C. Peter Magrath and W.K. Kellogg Engagement Awards
The Office of Community Engagement and Outreach seeks broad-based partnership proposals for UT Knoxville’s annual submission for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award and C. Peter Magrath Award. These prestigious regional and national awards recognize programs that demonstrate how colleges and universities have redesigned their learning, discovery, and engagement missions to become even more involved with their communities. On behalf of the Chancellor, the University’s Council on Academic Outreach and Engagement is soliciting nominations for the Chancellor’s Excellence in Academic Outreach Award. The award will be presented to the faculty member at the Chancellor’s Awards Banquet in April 2016, and recognizes extraordinary contributions of faculty to the public that are related to the University’s academic mission. Nominees should have a minimum of five years of continuous service at the University of Tennessee. Nomination Deadline: February 19, 2016.
As part of UT’s commitment to community-university partnerships and engaged scholarship, the Chancellor provides special project seed funding for proposals that specifically enhance the public engagement mission of the university. Proposal Deadline: March 4, 2016, 5 p.m.
This year’s Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) Conference will be held October 11th and 12th at the University of Nebraska. Proposals are now sought for presentations and posters. The ESC deadline for proposal submissions is March 15, 2016. Every UT attendee automatically qualifies for a $100 conference registration discount, as UT is a member institution of ESC. In addition, full conference scholarships (registration, travel, and accommodation costs) may be available from UT’s Academic Outreach and Engagement Council.
