A Faculty Fellow opportunity is available in the Office of Community Engagement and Outreach housed within the Office Research & Engagement for spring 2019 and possibly summer 2020. The Faculty Fellow will provide leadership related to the Imagine Tennessee pilot program. Imagine Tennessee will serve as an umbrella initiative to spotlight UT Knoxville’s community engagement efforts. The goal of this initiative is to support connections among UT’s faculty and student-engaged scholarship occurring in curricular, co-curricular, and faculty-only programs with the East Tennessee community.
Faculty Fellows will assist in engagement and enriching the experience of students implementing projects; provide assistance to administrators and researchers in the oversight of projects, especially student run projects; serve as a facilitator and catalyst for new collaborations between UT and community partners; help facilitate efforts for strategic planning while bringing faculty perspective to the process; identify opportunities for conducting engaged research with faculty and/or students; and promote ORE efforts.
Fellows will receive one course release up to $4,000 in the spring and/or summer semester, extra service pay, or a combination of course release and research/travel funds equivalent to the amount offered. Fellows will spend approximately ten hours per week working with the program and will meet periodically with appropriate staff to exchange ideas. In addition to a general orientation to engagement programs, the Fellow will have an opportunity to customize his or her experience based on expertise and areas of interest. Time commitments are negotiable. Applicants should list whether they are applying for spring, summer or both.
